BLACK CARPET BEETLE
"Length: 1/16″ – ⅛″ The carpet beetle has an oval shaped body that is black with a pattern of white and orange/red scales. The carpet beetle will feed on a wide variety of plant and animal products such as hair, horns, feathers, silk, fur, rye flour, and wheat. Like their name suggest, the carpet beetle prefers feeding on carpets, clothing, and other textiles. During the summer, adults are typically found outdoors on flowers feeding on pollen and nectar. The carpet beetle is commonly brought indoors on cut flowers."

CASEMAKING CLOTH MOTH

They have long narrow wings and are buff or golden with brownish tinge except for 3 dark spots on each front win Hind wing fringed with long hairs. Eyes wider than the space between them. Signs of an infestation are silken tubes on clothes that are produces by the larvae. The clothes moth will only attach materials that have natural animal fiber blended in such as wool, fur, etc. They can also be found feeding on beef meal, fish meal, and milk products. The adult moths do not feed and prefer dark areas. They are not attracted to light as most moth species are.

The furniture carpet beetle will feed on the same materials as the common carpet beetle in addition to skins, leather, dead insects, dried blood, dead mice, etc. Their breeding areas include abandoned wasp nests, behind baseboards, in animal trophies or rugs, and in dead animals in chimney flues."

Silverfish are a common problem in homes with cedar-shake shingles."
